The Reef: Stalked (2022)

Look, this movie is BAD. There are some reviews that are going to try to trick you into thinking it's not so bad, but they are LYING TO YOU and want you to waste an hour and a half of your life on this hot steaming pile of garbage! Even Hulu knows it sucks - they only put two ads, both in the first twenty minutes of the movie. Why? Because they don't want you to have any pauses later on where you have time to consider whether you really want to waste MORE time watching the movie than you already have!

The Adam Project (2022)

Look, I wanted to like this movie, I really did. I like Ryan Reynolds, and Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are always welcome in anything I watch, but the longer I ruminate on this movie, the less I like it. Full spoilers ahead!

Top Five Best TV Show First Kisses

Hiya, it's been a while! I don't think anyone reads this, but in case anyone does: I hope you're well, and I hope you're making it through this damn pandemic okay! Anyway I was watching clips of TV shows on Youtube, as one does, and I was reminded of Chuck and Sarah's great "first kiss" from the show Chuck - now technically they had kissed a bunch before the scene I'm talking about, but this was the first time they kissed for real and not as part of their cover story. This got me thinking about all the great TV show first kisses, and I was like "hey, I should list them somewhere!" and that's when I remembered I have a blog for this very reason!

Anyway, without further delay... here are my top five fave first kisses (in no particular order... uhh #spoilers, obviously)

The Expendables But With Characters We Know Instead Of Just Actors

While at dinner last night, myself and a couple of friends were discussing how cool it would be if there were a crossover movie with Jack Reacher, The Equalizer, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Taken, and how it would be especially cool if, in a twist no one saw coming, it turned out to be a Cloverfield movie. So I made the poster.

The Open House (2018)

I have had the opening paragraph of a review of The Open House sitting in my drafts for months because this movie was just too bland to say much about it. The actors were doing their very best, which is about the only solidly good thing I can say for it. Unfortunately, though they did try, they were unable to polish this turd into a diamond. Heads up, this is going to be a very spoilery review because I had some severe issues with the ending that kind of ruined the already mediocre movie. Full spoilers ahead!

A Quiet Place (2018)

I saw A Quiet Place at the theater yesterday and I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about it! Bottom line: it was a good movie, but I had some issues with it that kind of soured me on the film.

I would suggest if you have any interest at all, be like me: don't watch trailers or read reviews, just go and see it without knowing what you're getting into - you'll probably really like it (as almost all of the reviews I've seen attest to). Definitely don't read this review first, which is going to have LOTS of spoilers!

Tear Me Apart (2015)

Welcome to 2018! I've started the year off right by signing up for Amazon Prime to have a whole slew of new movies and TV shows to watch... and yet I chose to watch the post apocalyptic horror movie Tear Me Apart. It's real bad, y'all.

A Ranking of the Time Travel Shows of the 2016/2017 Season

Time Travel was a big theme for TV shows this past season - none were particularly successful, but I watched them all. Here are my rankings, from worst to first:

Riverdale Season 1

I have been waiting a while for this to come on Netflix, and finally this week it did! I have lots of thoughts on this show, kind of mixed but mostly good...

Party of Five ruins everything

Sorry for my lack of posting to all one of you who read this blog (Hi, Kendall!). I have been caught up in the whirlwind that is Party of Five - now on Netflix! I am somewhere in season 3 and I think I like it? But I also don't? I guess what I'm saying is I don't have strong feelings either way, which makes writing a review about it hard, but it also makes it difficult to review other things when I have the mediocrity that is Po5 swimming around in my noggin. Here is a list of things I have watched and started (but not finished) reviews of since I've started watching Party of Five:

-First Period (2013) - this was a rewatch, a review requested by Kendong. I have mixed feelings on this one
-Train To Busan (2016) - Korean zombie movie. Loved it.
-Riverdale season 1 - I actually just binge watched this last night into today. I have lots of thoughts on this one!

So yeah. I'll get back on this eventually. I think my interest in Party of Five is petering out so I can just forget about it and move on. Soon.

Lavender (2016)

Lavender is a supernatural horror movie currently on Netflix. I think it's shooting for "atmospheric" but lands squarely at "kind of boring".

13 Reasons Why on Netflix

I have seen some controversy surrounding this series. Some people think it's exploitative of suicide as entertainment. Some people just think it's boring. However, I think overall response to this series has been fairly positive.

So, this is based on a young adult novel by the same name (well, I think the novel spells out the thirteen, but same diff). It's about a teenage girl named Hannah who kills herself (not a spoiler, she's dead at the start of the series) and sends thirteen tapes around to the thirteen people who, she feels, pushed her to the point of suicide. Each episode is a different tape, and we see, in flashbacks, what happened to Hannah, and we see the fallout of her suicide in the present. The main character is a kid named Clay who had a crush on Hannah and can't for the life of him figure out why he is on the tapes since he never really wronged Hannah in a huge way.

The Princess Bride

HOPEFULLY anyone reading this has already seen The Princess Bride - it is a fantastic movie, it has everything - action, adventure, sword fights, pirates, giants, friendship, true love - it is GREAT. That's it, that's my whole review of the movie. If you've seen it, you probably love it. If you haven't seen it, you need to watch it, because you'll probably love it. Also I think it's on Netflix right now (in the US).

What you may not be as familiar with is the book, The Princess Bride. It was written by William Goldman (who also wrote the screenplay for the movie - which is why I believe it to be the best movie adaptation of a novel of all time), and man, is it good. It is almost exactly like the movie except for two ways, which I'll get to. First, a little backstory...
